FTL, or Full Truck Load, is a shipping method that involves a truck transporting a single shipment exclusively. This means that the entire trip is dedicated to the delivery of one load. FTL has several advantages over the alternative shipment mode known as Less Than Truck Load (LTL), which involves transporting less than a full truckload.
If a shipment is big enough to occupy most of the space available in a shipping container, opting for a full truckload will result in lower costs.
Compared to courier transport or LTL, full truckloads are not as restricted by size and weight limitations.
FTL shipments reach their destination faster since the truck does not make any additional pickups or drop-offs en route.
FTL transport reduces the amount of handling involved, which minimizes the risk of loss or damage to the shipment, as there is no transfer between trucks during transit.
